I am furiously nodding at all of this like no other book has made me so /angry/ reading it but at the same time, there is something unknowably gripping about that forces me to keep reading.

Yes, knowing RFK Rin will have an epiphany, then promptly forget it. Then relearn the moral lesson 3 pages later when she remembers that altan is dead, and when altan is brought back to life there will be an egregious exposition drop to explain how that happened. My bet is this is just before the final battle. And then Chaghan arrives with his army, shoots someone important, gets killed, then just as he passes away he sees Altan.
