JFJ opening the episode right up with some of that classic crozier haterism
not bridgens and peglar....not bridgens bringing peglar a book to read on the journey and the implication that they've been doing that for a long time...not the way they are in love and shit

sir john and crozier are such great foils for the early parts of the show...sir john's religious belief that god will protect versus crozier's insistence that nature doesn't care for them...sir john being well loved but not respected versus crozier being well respected but not loved
also i love the episodal pacing of this show. you're very slowly let on how much time has passed since the first episode and shown how much the 1st and 2nd captain's relationship had deteriorated
the sunglasses to protect against the arctic glare are such a look not gonna lie
yes i know the title of the episode is after graham gore because he dies but he seems so nice i wish he didnt
also the more i think about it the more i think goodsir keeps getting uneasy / thinking he's seeing something in the distance on the lead party is due to the fact that he's the only bitch who ever respected silna and therefore can sense tuunbaq
not gibson and hickey rawdogging it below deck i hate these bitches i cant stand them. however i love that conrelius' reasoning that irving wont tell anyone about what he saw is that irving is too repressed to tell the captain he saw them rawdogging it below deck.
i love the show don't tell of how much the crew Likes sir john...this ep when the 1st lead party returns and the one reporting apologizes for disappointing him + ep1 when david young says he doesnt want sir john to know he was afraid
okay the sophia/crozier plot is definitely something that went over my head on my first watch of this...sophia loves crozier but doesnt want to be his wife if he's going to stay in the navy and be gone all the time, her uncle is sir john who hates crozier for proposing to her, being irish, and being a more successful discovery captain than him, but believes sophia dislikes him for those same reasons which isnt true. when sir john was assigned first captain of the franklin expedition, sophia asked crozier to go and make sure that sir john comes home safe and alive because she knows sir john isnt as capable as crozier, which only turns sir john against him even more from the insult. yeah i did not register this shit the first time!!
cornelius hickey in this episode...who i know is not actually Cornelius Hickey because ive seen everything but anyways...zamn he is so mastermind manipulator...turning the idea of shared plight as irishmen in the english navy into a ploy to endear crozier to him + the whiskey + the caulking just before irving gets to crozier to tell him what he saw...EVIL GAY RAT
goodsir really lives up to his name essentially just being good guy...crozier knowing inuktitut as another way he is more suited for this expedition than sir john...GOD SIR JOHN LITERALLY SUCKS ON SO MANY LEVELS...also fitzjames being a dick as usual
also (acknowledges this is the worlds lowest bar) its nice that they got an actual inuit actress + had the actors actually speak inuktitut, though im not certain which dialect... i know nive nielsen speaks kalaallisut dialect from greenland but im not super farmiliar with the phonetic + lexicographic differences. also side note nive nielsen is cool as hell: she got degrees in political science and visual anthropology and is in a band and acts on the side for kicks...queen shit only
