That night, after the plates had been cleared, Robb carried Bran up to bed himself. Grey Wind led the way, and Summer came close behind. His brother was strong for his age, and Bran was as light as a bundle of rags, but the stairs were steep and dark, and Robb was breathing hard by the time they reached the top.
He put Bran into bed, covered him with blankets, and blew out the candle. For a time Robb sat beside him in the dark. Bran wanted to talk to him, but he did not know what to say. "We'll find a horse for you, I promise," Robb whispered at last.
"Are they ever coming back?" Bran asked him.
"Yes," Robb said with such hope in his voice that Bran knew he was hearing his brother and not just Robb the Lord. "Mother will be home soon. Maybe we can ride out to meet her when she comes. Wouldn't that surprise her, to see you ahorse?" Even in the dark room, Bran could feel his brother's smile. "And afterward, we'll ride north to see the Wall. We won't even tell Jon we're coming, we'll just be there one day, you and me. It will be an adventure."
"An adventure," Brain repeated wistfully. He heard his brother sob. The room was so dark he could not see the tears on Robb's face, so he reached out and found his hand. Their fingers twined together.

(game of thrones, 249)

i love the stark kids so much (T–––T) robb carrying bran up the stairs himself instead of finding hodor is so sweet and i miss him so much in the later books. the mention of surprising jon at the wall always gets me, especially how robb truly thinks of jon as a brother despite everything. also #boys_who_cry moments....

s8e3 certainly was a fun watch but also like what the ever loving fuck:
  • arya killing the night king felt really undeserved to me - not in the sense that i dont think she could kill him, but in terms of the episode/entire shows story arc it seems out of left field. and it was a corny/cheap shot...a bit campy for me. arya has zero interactions with wights for all 7 seasons and no relationship with the night king - in terms of narrative its a really bad move. the writers said jon felt too expected but i think they are confusing what is inevitable to a character with what is ""predictable."" its not bad writing to satisfyingly complete character arcs. they didnt subvert anything in a meaningful way and just went for shock value....asoiaf is good because when expectations are subverted (i.e. neds death) it tells us something important (love/truth/honor can get you killed). arya killing the night king doesnt tell us anything
  • isnt the hound supposed to be terrified of fire? did i miss when he got over that? i know he was frozen in fear at one point but that seemed to be about thinking they couldnt win, not, yknow, the fact that beric was running around with a flaming sword and the entirety of winterfell was on fire. this is the guy who literally committed treason to flee the fiery battle of blackwater when JOFFREY was king. and his fear wasn't overcome when arya wanted to cauterize his wound, later. this plot hole is.........giant.
  • the fact that we are basically getting back to petty political squabbling after knocking the main, core villain/drive of the show in one episode is um. basically the antithesis of what grrm made this series about. the writers were seriously like i know that the series is about how vapid the political power struggles are, but what if the vapid political power struggles were the important part?
  • they really just wiped out....the entirety of the dothraki? wtf

 PREDICTION RESULTS:

obvious: the night king awakens the dead in the crypts of winterfell, we either get a sam tarly honor moment or a total massacre, there is no inbetween
  • O     NAILED IT! i forgot that sam decided to fight instead of stay in the crypts but i was right about total massacre
jon snow vs night king in the godswood. dont know how, dont care how, just want to see it
  • X     we were so close yet so far. he was on his way does that count
either jon or daenerys dies (this is a long term prediction, one is likely to go b4 the season is over)
  • X     really thought they had daenerys for a moment there but now i think maybe they'll both live actually
tyrion's redemption as hand of the queen - probably based on something he learned from bran after the strategy planning meeting
  •    nope
podrick is killed in the battle of the winterfell ( I DO NOT WISH THIS TO BE TRUE )
  •    also thought he was a goner for a moment there but they let all my bitches live!!!
i really don't think we are getting out of here with all 3 of ned stark's kids AND jon snow, whether its by the end of the episode or the end of the season. bran can't die because then the war is lost and over, i don't see arya being killed (though the previews did suggest some shit going down in the crypts), jon snow is jon snow, so that leaves sansa as the least experienced in combat and least quote unquote essential to the main plot re: actual battle. winterfell needs her leadership so badly though and you dont have all the facts which are i love her. but also the fates of stark direwolves seem to be tied to the fates of the stark children, and sansa has not yet met the same end as her direwolf lady when it took the place of arya's
  • X     wrong again . . . maybe this is true culmination of the lone wolf dies but the pack survives re: arya saving bran (and everyone in the world)
grey worm absolutely dies in the battle of winterfell
  • ?     did he die?? i couldnt tell
i have a Bad Feeling about tormund's survival based on nothing but i like him a lot which means game of thrones would love to murder him brutally in front of me
  • X     they let my bitches live etc etc!!
obligatory epic hound moment. <migos voice> bitch he's a dog woof
  • O     i will personally count clegane straight up picking arya and running as an epic hound moment but thats because i think he is fun
based on s8e2 interax, i dont see the showrunners letting both brienne and jaime survive this one, and jaime still has to confront cersei :(
  • X     well we still gotta confront cersei and we've got jaime and his golden hand (i think). brienne of wife city lives!!!!!!
extremely beautiful and cinematic miguel sapochnik signature jon snow tracking shot
  • O     nailed it x70
